Michael Schacter, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist at Big Sky Psychological Consortium (BSPC). He provides individual therapy to adults and teens that is informed by psychodynamic and multicultural theories. His approach focuses on fostering curiosity about oneself, increasing self-understanding and acceptance, working through internal conflicts and inflexible emotional/relational/behavioral patterns, and building on individuals’ strengths to maneuver more effectively through the world. In addition to therapy, Dr. Schacter provides clinical supervision to post-doctoral psychology residents and post-master’s counselors and clinical social workers.
Dr. Schacter completed his doctoral training at Washington State University, his doctoral internship at Montana State University, and his postdoctoral training at BSPC. Additional training and clinical experience occurred at Washington State Penitentiary and a residential crisis stabilization and hospital diversion program called the Dane County Care Center in Monona, Wisconsin.
Dr. Schacter accepts insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, Allegiance, Cigna, and Pacific Source. He also accepts private pay. Dr. Michele McKinnie is a licensed psychologist and co-founder of Big Sky Psychological Consortium. She has provided psychological services in Bozeman since 2002 and works with clients from adolescence through every stage of adulthood.
Dr. McKinnie offers depth-oriented psychotherapy informed by relational psychodynamic, interpersonal and attachment-based theories. Her clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, identity concerns, interpersonal difficulties, emotional coping and personality disorders.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. McKinnie directs the Consortium’s postdoctoral training program and provides collaborative clinical supervision to developing psychologists.
